The Year is 2021. Farm Aid is actually happening in Hartford, CT. Yes even the east coast farms. Yes even that lose to Boston and New York. Yes there are vaccine card checks and covid testing to enter the actual venue. Yes, children and their parents are seen wearing masks. Am I in Hartford? Of course not, it’s soccer season and I’m still coaching. However the livestream is still a safe way to be there. Why do I still watch […]
Ok, the world of Phoebe and Crosby have been on hold for just over two weeks. Why? Well first there was the ride on DC, followed by pre-season soccer camp and now the season is kicking off. Some of you already know about those little reminders scribbled in my notebook. One of them says to share your story with anyone who will listen and don’t be small– I’ve started fcarmstrong.blog for that item. Then there was the part about vibing […]
Yes, Fred pounded the Gulf. Here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania it impacted the location of our soccer practice one day and has us on dock and Kinzua watch. We are lucky that is the only issue for us right now but the consequences of climate change continue to show up everywhere. https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov/app/nwd/?region=lower48&aoi=default https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov/api/gwis/2.0/service/site?agencyCode=USGS&siteNumber=03030500&openhttps://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov/api/gwis/2.0/service/site?agencyCode=USGS&siteNumber=03030500&open=122357=122357 https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov/api/gwis/2.0/service/site?agencyCode=USGS&siteNumber=03032500&open=122372 https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/03012550/#parameterCode=00010&period=P7D https://dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov/api/gwis/2.0/service/site?agencyCode=USGS&siteNumber=03031500&open=122361
I had to pull this page back to the front. First we started with a paint job during the pandemic. It brightened up all of the old panelling and made those rainy days in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a little warmer. Then in 2021 we added a little grilling space. Needless to say meeting virtually and communicating here saved several actual road trips. Here’s the scope all ceilings are 8′, all trim is to remain as is with exception where […]
The big double lot across from the church was where we’d go as kids. Phyllis Sue I did a drive-by after practice the other day. No not that type of drive by the ones that are happening in Arnold, Homewood, Homestead, but instead one of the camera kind. The house still stands it now has aluminum siding instead of the asphalt fake brick. It looks like it is split into a duplex.
I am not sure if a line from Patsy Caruso is appropriate here but the aluminum awnings are gone and the original wood siding is finally being covered over—almost 100 years after the original construction date of this wood frame house. Back in the day the wood was killed in Charleroi, the homes are being built at a break neck pace and PPG had just closed their works in Charleroi and moved operations to their Ford City plant to better […]
Elle,Crosby and Phoebe set out to check on the current status of the Allegheny River along Seybertown Road this morning 20 July 2021. Here is what they have to report and video and photo. If you haven’t been watching Allegheny Outfitters upriver regarding emergency rescues or Kinzua gauges you may want to start following both areas. It appears this crazy rain event that started last Monday really added a lot of moisture to the watershed. Based on what I’ve been […]
All types of things are coming down the Allegheny today due to the high water that has been flowing. This tree actually made LESLIE think of the Loch Ness Monster. What do you think? Today has been a full day of dock work: pull it in and pull it in more with some aid to the neighbors as the river keeps rising. Today was a great day for futsal in the gym. Coach Dave. After the first week of futsal […]
