Árbitro de fútbol, por favor explique por qué se anularon estos goles. No entiendo el fuera de juego en el fútbol.

Law 11: Offside

OK so the wording for offside is really simple. Learning all the nuances to the law would take at least half a day watching game video. After the video we’d still need to spend another half day learning to move like an assistant referee (formerly LINOS –in England) and listen for the last touch. Especially since at the learning levels we don’t have micro chips in the ball and automated offside to tell if it’s a toe or a head ust offside.

The basic wording of Law 11 per the FA:

1. Offside position

It is not an offence to be in an offside position.

A player is in an offside position if:

  • any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent

The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered. For the purposes of determining offside, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. A player is not in an offside position if level with the:

  • second-last opponent or
  • last two opponents

Now after reading all of that please don’t say OFFSIDES! Nowhere above does offside have an S at the end.
