After getting back from working a National Tournament in the city of Las Vegas, I need to reflect. Why do I need to reflect? The weekend was full of fun, play, friendships and focus around one game–football or in this case futsal. Teams came from all over the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Why do I separate Puerto Rico from the United States? According to International Football Federations–Puerto Rico is their own Football Federation. This is why Great Britain the country has multiple football federations. You often will see Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England playing against each other in competitions, even though they are all part of Great Britain. While my event may not have been organized by FIFA, IFAB, US Soccer or the White House, we still made up our own Team One. 

Team One is often referred to as the team of arbitros who ensure fair play, respect and enforcing the spirit of the game.  At this tournament our Team One represented FIFA referees, former FIFA referees, FMF Referees, US Soccer Referees and Puerto Rico Federation Referees. This time our Team One was missing at least one member. In all honesty the current administration in the White House has chased away good people, not just from this game but this country.

This member had their life swept away by an ice storm. Are we better? Are we safer? Or are more people living in fear?
