The word of the day is SPATCHCOCK. It started with my Peloton outdoor Turkey Trot. Before you find the need to look up spatchcock, here is a little video on how to spatchcock. Leslie has informed me that we will never spatchcock a turkey because turkeys are meant to hold stuffing. Watch the video and you will understand.

Ok- as my text messages are blowing up with codes for black Friday specials, let me mute those notifications for a minute so I can reflect. When I look back on where we were earlier this year, four years ago, and ten years ago, there are so many things to be grateful for and there are reasons to celebrate even those difficult moments that have happened during the holidays. Prior to 2013 Thanksgiving dinners were usually at the Back Porch–Charleroi and Christmas was filled of cooking grass-fed beef filet to two different temperatures for those that wanted it dead a 2nd time and those that wanted to enjoy beef the way it was meant to at 814 4th Street.

This morning 10 years ago, I was running around Cincinnati and Kentucky with Linds. We had Jim and Tom cheering us on through the mean hills of downtown Cincy and learned all about the Newport Aquariums Scuba Santa performances. Remember when we used to do the dress up for dinner thing too! Leslie and David were still living on fifth Street in ASPINWALL before the big move to Milwaukee. We began to look at everyday as a new day in which we need to live each day to the fullest.

Whatever it is that you are grateful for. . . this is a great time to reflect.
- Introducing Annabelle to the river rat world.
- Having a partner that embrace being awesome and tolerates those less than awesome characteristics I can display.
- Crawford learning from his mama dog #2, Phoebe, on how to be a good boy.
- Viewing the world with an open heart and open mind.
- believe in science and data over dogma
- embrace cooperation over conflict
- realize that life is in the gray and rarely black or white
- respects others rights and equality for all
- find value in arts and culture, including reading books instead of burning them
- respect the planet
- Being able to coach my Jr. High team one more season.
- Having family time at the beach, including a few rounds at Indian Bayou.
- Falling back to the soundtrack of my life with DMB, Dave & Tim, Depeche Mode all live.
- Hooters strip cheese sandwiches- only in Destin, Cincy, Birmingham.
I’m going to follow the lead of Phoebe and Crawford and sniff through the world using the following mantras. . . change is constant-embrace change, progress over perfection, breathe-believe-receive, embrace the process, put our needs first-just like your oxygen mask when they drop from the plane due to depressurization.
