The times upon us are changing. The tides are definitely churning.
The history of the United States of America is full of hope, love, bloodshed, hate, control, genocide, racism, new beginnings and compromise. The current state of political and religous affairs has seen similar cylces over this country’s existence. Hopefully we will learn from our real history and not a made up history. Let’s look back on June-Pride month, Juneteenth, Flag Day, Beginning of Summer and reflect on how the stories were taught wile the real story that real people lived through have been discredited to advance a specific agenda. Let’s understand that while we celebrate from Columbus we also unleashed a Genocide on the Native Americans. As we count votes for the Electoral College let us remember that was designed to make the south happy since their slaves were not allowed to vote, yet their owners wanted them to be counted. Let’s focus on listening to real stories from real people with reflection and empathy.
The JOY part. Dancing to DMB or Dave and Tim provide joy. My workouts give me joy. My dog walks give me joy. Getting out in nature and either in or on the water give me and Mr. Crawford joy. Riding with Camila, Jess, Christine, Wilpers, Dennis and Emma while working on Peloton and Place gives me joy, especially as I realize Mr. Crawford’s behavioral cups are being filled. Dining with friends new and old and sharing stories of the places we’ve been and the meals we’ve shared gives me joy. Giving mi esposa back rubs gives me joy as I work on her knotty spots. Sitting on a beach and getting the salt spray therapy gives me joy. Traveling to see new places or meet old friends gives me joy. #gratitude #blessed
