Tu preferido bebes agua o cervrza?!?

What is your favorite drink?

It has been a chocolate milk shake from my Grandmother’s Blender.

It has been Hitchhiker Brewery Bane or Existence or East End Brewings Cold Snap.

During Covid we discovered Tempranillos.

There was also that phase where it was Bacardi and cola, a long time ago before I discovered hops.

In Milwaukee it was Lakefront Brewery.

Right now it’s an espresso martini with tequila reposado, not vodka.

When I started writing this on the third floor of Rick’s Bar in Puerto Morelos at El Dorado Maroma we’ve been talking contractions, double negatives and adding hearts to chocolate martinis.

What is your favorite drink?

Globally there is an issue with clean drinking water. The United States undertook a public investment over a hundred years ago to ensure all communities had safe drinking water. Imagine everybody could unite around one issue. In Charleroi, Aspinwall, Pittsburgh, and many other communities the cost of tap water is increasing due to once in a generation upgrades that are now being completed and paid for by households. While our water bill may be doubling their previous amount it is important we understand the commitment to this public good.

The world’s 6th largest metropolitan area, with around 22 million people is trying to make sure they have water for everybody. We can all agree that drinking water is essential to life. Let’s take a minute to see what’s going on in Mexico City.

Do you own Coca Cola or Pepsico? Do you have shares of either in your portfolio? Do you even know if you have either in your portfolio through ETF’s or your portfollio manager? Why do I ask this in a post about your favorite drink? Water! Water! Water! It is the most important drink for all forms of life. In the United States most populated towns and cities in the US we just lift the faucet and we have clean publicly treated water to drink. We can fill our Stainless Steel Mugs for only a few pennies. In the rest of the world this water filtration and treatment process is not taken for granted. In many countries the two companies I mentioned have extended their beverage portfolios to provide the people with bottled H2O.

When do we let the market solve the problem and what really is a public good?
