Do we need to learn how to fail?

I remember coaching at Greensburg Salem and discussing with one of my seniors, why I needed him to play a certain position. I remember why he didn’t want to try it even after I tried to show him that his skills checked every box the team needed in that role. What was his reason for not wanting to try? He was afraid that he would fail! Everyday we wake up and make choices to challenge ourselves or stay in our safe zones. If we are ruled by fear we only have fear to fear. If we are ruled by living and taking on challenges we have the possibility or abundant outcomes. If we don’t get up on our skis the first time, we need to reflect and try again. One segment from happy news in 2022 caught my attention.

Take that risk, get out of your comfort zone. But please ask first if you’d like to pet one of my dogs.

I may say no, just to make sure my dog understands I’ll protect them and they won’t have to turn on their defenses.
