Here in Aspinwall we observed Flag Day on June 14–so did Lower Burrell and East Brady. Later this week we observe Juneteenth. These two federal observances reflect on this country’s history.
While we claim our democracy to be great, we do have issues with how we’ve treated all inhabitants of our land.

We are now half way through June 2023. The travel world barely looks like it did in 2020, thanks to Covid-19 vaccinations, exposure and treatment methods. Flying back and forth to VPS via ATL, there were no masks, no social distancing, completely full flights and on-board movies using Delta’s back of the seat tablets. I caught up on a few movies: A Man Called Otto, Magic Mike-the last dance.

After a few days of rain, we settled in to watch the USA v Mexico on ‘in the Concacaf Nations Cup live in Las Vegas. Only this time the talk happened during the game, the emotions went over the top and the last thing most people remembered about the game were the three United States goals that we’re scored in the 3-0 outcome. The red cards and the infamous Mexican fan chant.
