Starting October 2021: Me Too, Soccer, River Season, Locks and Dams.

It’s October the boards are out at Allegheny River Lock and Dam No. 9, No. 8, No. 7 and No. 6–the pool level is dropping in Pool 9 at a rate where the dock will be coming out very soon, if not in the next few days. Phoebe has confirmed that we will still have enough boat launch to do this dock thing and boat launch thing later this week. Kittanning levels have dropped and so have the ones here in Aspinwall. The change in daylight has the leaves on the hillsides changing slowly to red and yellow. My official soccer coaching season has ended and now I get to wear the referee uniform. Dog walks have become elkhound walks now that the morning air temperatures are around 50 degrees and the water temperature is warmer than the air. This is Crosby time. Except lately Crosby hasn’t been wanting to get moving during the dark mornings. See the latest post on fcarmstrong.blog below, it talks about the issues the NWSL is facing right now.

For those of you who have ever boated along the Allegheny River, did you ever wonder why we have the fixed crest dams? Or when they came to be?

About the author

Phoebe and Crawford are two Bridge to Home rescue dogs living their best life together in Aspinwall. They get out daily in nature, take their humans for walks and coffee. Peloton and Place is Crawford’s training game. When we are not sleeping on a couch, we are chasing squirrels and birds in our backyard.
