Oh Canada, it looks like the NHL is going to give you a division all within your borders in this Covid-19 world. Thanks to the #Trumpvirus part of Covid-19, there really is no way to let American teams travel into Canada safely. Our inability as American’s to make personal decisions that mitigate the spread of Covid-19 have led us to this holiday season where Turkey Day will be via Zoom instead of in person. We started off the holiday last night by testing out our Zoom skills and realized that some of us haven’t updated the App in a while. If you have a Zoom gathering planned and haven’t recently used Zoom, check your version you may need to update the App or delete and reinstall.
Cindy had to reboot to hear me and that’s when we realized Angelo had never heard of the Canadian institution–Barenaked Ladies. Yes they can even post on Instagram and meet the terms of decency when posting. The last time I saw them onstage LIVE was in Milwaukee where I learned the meaning behind it’s colder by the lake. If you’ve ever watched the Big Bang Show, they did the theme song, if not here’s a short little liver performance.
Regarding the NHL, they have discussed the Covid-19 alignment for the 2021 season. Note I’m really not sure they are going to start as they hoped in December but the discussion of realighment for covid-19 makes sense:
Canada | East | Central | West |
Calgary | Boston | Chicago | Anaheim |
Edmonton | Buffalo | Columbus | Arizona |
Montreal | Carolina | Detroit | Colorado |
Ottawa | New Jersey | Florida | Dallas |
Toronto | NY Islanders | Nashville | LA |
Vancouver | NY Rangers | Pittsburgh | Minnesota |
Winnipeg | Philadelphia | St. Louis | San Jose |
Washington | Tampa Bay | Las Vegas |

Speaking of division, what is going on in Michigan? One minute they certify the vote then the next minute, they want to take back certification? Our federalist approach to being the United States is one of the reasons this is election is still dragging out. We’ve given the states the power to do their own thing in many areas: elections, education, taxation, social services and public health. If the federal government ever chose to take the lead in any of these areas I’d be curious to see who went off on the Constitution tangent. Right now this same federalist approach has not worked with Covid-19 as the patchwork of guidelines has only allowed us to be as good as the local government chooses to be. Instead of listening to the best epidemiologists we are stuck with guidance from local health departments as agreed upon by local political leaders. I really wished PA opened up their communication regarding schools to publish a real dashboard like WI instead of making the local media pull it all together. We need to remember that all of our collective decisions can make. difference in this Covid-19 world.

Shine the light on COVID-19, realize that if we all individually step up we can help stem the exponential infection rates until we get to a point where we can start looking toward vaccine distribution. Find ways to keep us together even if we can’t all be in the same place. Lead with kindness and love.

My workouts have all moved to home– that means no gym. Including my 400th ride with @iamicaniwillido. Crosby’s dog walks have mostly been in the park at off hours with me and my mask. Let’s be smart people. Mask up, stay home, wash your hands and install the Covid App.

More good counsel, and we had to update zoom yesterday, so we’re ready.
Also, the Bare Naked Ladies are no longer young – but then neither are we.
