We’ve been watching our friends take up a battle over beach space. Uncle Tom always tells the story about Mike the ambassador to Israel Huckabee wanting to be the only whale on his beach. Now Mike doesn’t even own a home in SoWal and needs to watch out for friendly fire, but the battle for “property rights” over natural water levels will continue. Here are a few videos that will catch you up on this debate.
In the past month it has elevated to the Florida State House and Senate. The battle from the people to the county commissioners’ was only the start. Then it moved to the state house and then the senate.
After the House and Senate supported the people and specifically noted customary use for all, the entitled chose to appeal. The entitled don’t believe in 3rd spaces. They believe they are entitled to ownership of God’s ocean, sand and sun and can’t share space with other people. If I were told one of those people would be named Gaetz I wouldn’t be surprised. Let the people have their beaches. Let Florida be wild.
If you don’t know who Don Gaetz is, I’m guessing you’ve been living under a rock. Please look him up. Please understand how much skin he has in the game. Developers have grown the 30A area as a “special place” and the value of the properities have grown with this “special beach” access. Owners of properties, rentals, and beachfront mansions don’t like America the free and beautiful, they want it to be theirs. Until a storm washes away their beach. Then those “land owners” will ask the county or state to restore it for them.
